I bought the mask part of a restoration project. they are being used to replace a great deal of missing Mother of Pearl inlay from the folding legs that support antique brass trays (hammered and engraved Indian and Arabic tea and coffee tables/trays) that date from the mid and late 19th century. The inlays consist of intricate patterns made up of dozens of small triangles of mother of pearl, plus ebony, and ivory/bone ieces covering the 8 folding legs that make up the support structures for each tray. Over time, natural attrition has meant many pieces of MOP have been lost and the abalone shell to replace them, revitalising the carvings, and restoring the original beauty of the legs.
